Richard Kohler's 1948 Chevy Sedan Delivery

My vehicle is a 1948 Stylemaster series sedan delivery, I bought it 30 years ago in the little town Of Kooskia Idaho, I was on a fishing trip with my best friend and we usually camped out near water. We were rained out and spent the nite in a motel, in the morning I looked out the rear window and saw the car parked about 100 yards away in front of a small repair shop, after breakfast we went to look at it and I was really hoping it was a coupe we could only see the front. When we turned the corner and I saw it was a delivery I was stoked and said "that's mine" The owner had just put a For Sale sign in it 10 days before. Long story short I bought it had it shipped to Portland OR. where my parents lived and took it to Olson Bros Shell in Milwaukie for a mechanical check out, I had gone to school with Alan Olson the youngest of the 3 Olson Bros. I mainly wanted the brake system checked.  It was the first time the rear drums had been pulled the factory onion paper was still inside the drums, the odometer said 50153 miles and it was true. Roughly 4 years ago I got seriously into making a nice cruiser out of it. I put in a whole new front suspension with rack and pinion and discs, built a complete new brake system, rebuilt a 1965 Chevy 327 fuely with 202 valves from a Vette, installed a TH 700 R4 trans and a heavy duty Mosher posi rear end. I have done all of the mechanical work myself, except the machine work on the engine -- .030" over bore and .010" clean up on the crank. Last year I took the Delivery to a local Hot rod shop for some body work and a complete strip down to bare metal for a custom paint job. The base coats are early 70s Fire mist green metallic, over that are coats of clear with additional gold flake, sealed and then coats of clear Candy Apple for the finish. I still have some interior work to do, but hey it's nice go for a ride and see the attention I get.
