I’m having a similar problem with my 1941 special deluxe. It appears that reverse to first is working fine, but I do not see the second to third shift working at all. Before I really get into tearing into it, I’m wondering if someone else knows anything about why one shift would work but the other doesn’t. And why is it that every time I post something the first time, I get a “fatal error,” but if I go back and post again, it works fine?

Hello, this is Chewy with Chevs of the 40’s.There is no adjustment per vacuum but there is in the shifter setup. If you can send me an email I can send you out of the 1942-1946 shop manual on how to adjust the column gearshift. Let me know.

    Thank you,

    hey guys
i need a guide to help me to adjust the shifter, actually from reverse to first gear is ok but from 1st to 2nd and 3rd is touching the gears together ,, is it something can be related to the vacuum ? or to the shifter linkage adjustment ?

    regards
