On my 1948 Chev. with a 1950 engine; Given the known octane of modern gasoline do I really have to fiddle with the octane selector? That is, trial and error until I get a “slight ping” under full acceleration as the shop manual calls for? Or is there some known setting that I can use without the rig-a-marole. Thanks.
