    Hi esheftall,

Thanks a lot for yourhelp! I will try this as soon as I can.

Just starting my rewire this week. I removed the dome light assembly to get limited access above headliner. Used long piece of stiff wire normally used to hang ceiling grids and lay in ceiling tile. May be available from hardware store. Made as small a loop on end as I could with long nose pliers. Reached up into headliner area and “gently” pried material away from runner where I was fishing the long stiff wire across to drivers side door post.

Removed rear view visor mount held by three screws to expose hole at top of door post to headliner. Grabbed the long push wire as it came into sight. Tied on strong string and pulled back to dome light. Then removed under dash kick panel below dash along wall. Removed door jamb switch through opening in kick panel. Used shorter section of stiff push wire to get string from kick panel to door jamb switch. Used string to pull new electrical all the way back to dome light and replace rotted fabric insulated factory wire. Still have to re-assemble but have tested new wire and ready to go.

I want to replace the brittle dome light wiring on my ’51 Fleetline. Do I really have to take down the headliner? Anyone do this before? I would appreciate any help.
